This is the story of Robert Eads
Beloved of many, a planter of seeds
A child of the south, he was Georgia bred
had a patch of land & a sweet homestead...

Just a Good Ol Boy with a heart of Gold
As luck would have it, he was born a girl
He'd already married and had 2 boys
when he decided that he really had no choice

'She' 'risked it all' by becoming HE
Robert said, 'its a small price to be free'
It felt so good to be at home in his skin
He thought that his simple life could finally begin

Instead fate had a different kind of plan
Robert was 'becoming a visible man'
This is the story of Robert Eads
Gran Paw, Husband, Doer of deeds

These are the verses you always fear,
Robert got cancer his fifty-first year
FTMs like Robert were true pioneers
To many we are unacceptably queer:

Because he had the ovarian kind,
Doctors refused him treatment OVER 25 TIMES
By the time enough of a fuss was made
his cancer progressed to a terminal stage

This is the ballad of Robert Eads
A gentler soul you will never meet
Taken long before his rightful time
By a world that is closed and narrow of mind

This is the ballad of Robert Eads
May the facts of his needless death precede
the demand for Full EqualiTy
For the T to the B to the L to the G!

This is the ballad of Robert Eads
Best friend, Paw Paw, planter of seeds
Though he lost his battle in 99
May his Hero's Journey long remind
There can be no rest til all rights are enshrined....

cause even angels like Robert are first humankind

and the T
will never
be silent.
